14 Eminent educationist and former education adviser to the Union Government Kireet Joshi passes away in Puducherry at the age of 83. 

15 India and Vietnam sign seven agreements including one for enhanced cooperation in the oil sector,  during the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee to Hanoi
The Public Sector Enterprises Selection l Board names T Suvarna Raju as the next Chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.  RK Tyagi,  present Chairman,  is due to superannuate at the end of January 2015. 

The Union Cabinet clears the launch of National AYUSH Mission(NAND which will address the gaps in health services through supporting the ef-  forts of State Governments for providing AYUSH health services and education in the country. 

17 Chinese President Xi Jinping,  accompanied by his wife Peng Liyuan,  arrives to a lavish welcome in Ahmedabad,  kicking off a three-day visit to India,  aimed at resetting ties with massive Chinese investments in India,  especially in infrastructure.  Three pacts are signed between India and China with focus on Gujarat.

19 External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj formally inaugurates the academic session of the Nalanda University at Rajgir Convention hall where temporary classes are currently on in two disciplines with 15 students and 10 faculty members.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry declares that President Ki Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have found common ground to resolve the border row as part of a road map that will steer Beijing New Delhi ties in future.

23 Gautam Khaitan,  former Board member of a Chandigarh-based tech firm named in the Rs.  3,700-  crore Agusta Westland WIP chopper deal case,  is the first accused to be arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for his alleged role in routing funds for kickbacks
Leading architect and one of the founders of the profession in Delhi,  Cyrus Jhabvala,  passes away in Los Angeles at the age of 93. 

24 India joins an exclusive global club of deep space explorers when its indigenously made Mangalyaan spacecraft successfully slips into the orbit around Mars after a 10-month journey

The Supreme Court cancels all but four of o the 218 coal block allocations declared arbitrary and illegal by it in an August 25,  2014 judgment. 

25 Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches Make in India'  campaign to turn India into a manufacturing powerhouse,  vowing to remove bureaucratic sloth and make the country more investor friendly

The Mangalyaan spacecraft beams its first photos of Mars'  crater-marked surface.  The Indian Space Research organization(ISRO)  posts one of the photos,  titled First Light,  on its Facebook page showing an orange surface with dark cavities,  taken from a distance of 7,300 km

The Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan resigns from his day after the Na post,  Nationalist Congress Party(NCP)  withdrew support to his government and reduced it to a minority

27 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam J Jaalalithaa is sentenced to four years'  simple impris- onment by a Bangalore trial court after convicting her of amassing illegal wealth.  The court also slaps a fine of Rs.  100 crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi discusses urban and anti-terrorism issues with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and health matters with Nobel laureate Harold Varmos.  Varmos is director of the the National Cancer Institute,  the 1989 who won Nobel Prize for Medicine.

30 Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the United States President Barack Obama,  at the meeting in the Oval office of the White House in Washington DC,  decide to take the India-US rela-  tionship to the next level saying the true potential of the relationship has yet to be realized. 


The Reserve Bank of India(RBI)  Governor Raghuram Rajan maintains the policy rates at the current levels while announcing the fourth bi-monthly monetary policy statement.  The central bank keeps the short-term policy indicative rate(Repo rate)  unchanged at 8 per cent while keeping the Cash Reserve Ratio(CRR)  at 4 per cent.
